Order for pickup only at 185 Queen Street East, Toronto.
While it may seem like an unusual holiday plant, the Christmas cactus is flush with bold blooms, making it a welcome sight in the middle of winter. The fleshy segmented stems of the plant are flattened leaves and slightly serrated on each side. In late fall or early winter, tubular flowers bloom on the ends of each stem. The blooms are light pink and/or white.
Originating in the Brazilian rainforest, Christmas cacti grow in their native environments on moss-covered trees (as epiphytes) or in rock crevices filled with decaying vegetation (as lithophytes). They are found in cool but humid, shaded environments and do not root in soil.
