Orchid Cactus - Plant Society - Toronto

Orchid Cactus

$45.00

Orchid cacti are easy plants to grow, loving dry conditions and some bright indirect light. The flowers form at the notches on the flat or triangular leaves of last year. To help induce blooms, grow dry and cold in the winter with nights below 15º C and above freezing. Once buds are clearly visible, watering can be resumed.

Plants and pots sold separately.

Medium to bright indirect light.

Water when the top 1" of soil feels dry. Keep soil moist, but do not oversaturate. Restrict watering in the winter months to promote blooming.

No - Can cause mouth irritation and digestive reaction.

In the wild, orchid cacti hang from rocks and tree trunks. They have adapted to growing in the shade provided by a thick forest canopy, and as such, you should try to place your cactus in indirect or filtered light instead of full sunlight. Yellowed, withering leaves indicate too much sun, while limp or undersized leaves indicate too little sun.
